WELCOME
Hello I’m Lesley and a warm welcome to you. I am a qualified and accredited HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council) Art Psychotherapist and a member of the British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT).
I offer face-to-face and online sessions for children and young adults.
In my practice I provide a confidential therapeutic space where I will carefully listen to help you identify the issues that are troubling you so that they can be thought about and made sense of. Together we can find practical and creative ways to move towards stability and growth.

ART PSYCHOTHERAPY
Art Psychotherapy uses a mixture of talking and art-making in the sessions. It combines the usual practices of talking therapy - a safe confidential space to discuss what may be troubling you - with the possibility of using creativity to give further insight. Sometimes people like to paint, draw, use collage, clay, writing, poetry, photography or music.
By working with images it is possible to explore emotional issues in a different way, one that words alone may not allow. You do not need to be an artist or have had any art experience to benefit from this. Just drawn to the idea of expressing yourself creatively or using symbols and metaphor.
I will not interpret your creative process but will instead encourage you to be curious and reflective on what you have made. Together we can then explore what might best support your wellbeing and mental health.
Psychotherapy can be a life-changing experience. People start therapy for many different reasons. You may feel dissatisfied or distressed, want to explore the past, process difficult life events, or achieve goals. You will find a non-judgmental and safe space where you can focus on yourself. For more detailed information on art psychotherapy please see the BAAT website.
